A guide to East Perth’s best sights and shopping centres

If you follow the Swan River, you’ll make it to East Perth, one of the city’s most exclusive suburbs. What once used to be an industrial area has been transformed into a vibrant neighbourhood, with top-notch waterfront dining spots, beautiful green spaces, world-class sporting events, shopping hotspots and an abundance of historical memories.

Langley Park and East Perth’s Gardens

East Perth is home to an abundance of beautiful parklands and green areas. The most notable, Langley Park, is home to a variety of festivals, concerts and events throughout the year. Its beautiful grounds offer sweeping panoramic river views, with cycle paths and a playground with plenty of benches, it’s perfect for everyone.  We recommend enjoying Langley Park on a beautiful sunny day or at sunset with a picnic filled with delicious food and drinks. For all your picnic needs, be sure to stop at Shoppe On Langley Park to grab fresh charcuterie and snacks from Foodies Market IGA, tasty Mexican from Zambreros and a bottle of bubbles from Porters Liquor.

Just a short stroll from Shoppe On Langley Park, you’ll find Ozone Reserve, the Queen’s Gardens and Victoria Gardens, all abundant in native flora, beautiful sculptures and views overlooking the river. You’ll find more picnic spots, events and festivals, exercise zones and playgrounds around here. These parks are most used for walking and cycling, with trails that run through the East Perth area and Burswood Peninsula towards Optus Stadium. Be sure to stop and look at Herrison Island nearby, too, where a large population of native kangaroos live.

Shoppe on Langley Park: East Perth's lively precinct

Shoppe On Langley Park is East Perth’s local precinct. Home to shops, cafes and a gym, it also hosts diverse events throughout the year.

There, foodies will be delighted to find Foodies Market IGA, or Zambrero, to get their favourite treats. Porters Liquor will provide you with he right drink to go with your food, while the only 24/7 gym in the neighbourhood, The Track, provides all wellness and fitness services you need with saunas, masseuses and panoramic city views while you work out.

Be sure to keep your eye on Shoppe on Langley Park’s socials, as events are held under the atrium monthly in partnership with local charities, groups and organisations.

Claisebrook Cove and Matagarup Bridge

Right next to Victoria Gardens, you’ll find Claisebrook Cove. The cove is a picturesque and vibrant inlet home to a wide array of riverside cafes, restaurants and pubs. The cove is ideal for walking, picnicking, rollerblading, cycling, fishing, kayaking and of course dining while enjoying the river views and watching the boats come and go.

Just a short walk from Claisebrook Cove, through Victoria Gardens, is the famous Matagraup Bridge. The bridge is a beautiful structure representing a pair of black and white swans or the Wagyl, a water-serpent of great importance to local Noongar culture. With lighting on the arches, the bridge illuminates every night of the year. The Bridge is also home to a bridge climb with an open-air viewing platform 72m above the river, and a 400m long zip line that reaches 75km/hr for any adrenaline seekers who wish to see East Perth and Optus at thrilling new heights.

Optus Stadium, Gloucester Park and the WACA

Just a short 10-minute walk from our precinct is Gloucester Park. Gloucester Park is Perth’s premium Horse racing course that hosts a variety of events and races throughout the year. Every Friday and Tuesday night, harness horse racing takes place. The races draw in a large crowd, offering opportunities to eat, drink and watch some of Australia’s fastest horses race. The venue has 3 eateries open within the park for food and beverages, including a buffet and private function rooms that can be booked.

Across the river from East Perth is Optus Stadium. Optus Stadium is Perth’s sports and events venue. Home to a variety of AFL, cricket, and Rugby games as well as concerts and other entertainment, there is truly something for everyone.

The Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) grounds are home to a variety of cricket and sporting events, such as the Big Bash League and cricket Test matches. The grounds are currently under construction and will reopen ahead of the 2025-26 cricket season.
